Update: in 2024, Command AI was acquired by Amplitude.
Background
The founders and early team at Command AI (fka CommandBar) were laser-focused on getting their product right. As they grew confident in their product-market fit, they knew it was time to begin investing in marketing, but they weren’t sure where to start.
As Command AI co-founder and CEO James Evans put it, they wanted support determining, “Of the hundred growth ideas we have, which should we prioritize … and how can we skip the ‘growth marketing 101’ research phase and start executing?”
Meanwhile, the team recognized the marketing challenge inherent in defining a new product category, and they needed talent who could grasp — and use to their advantage — the complexities of their product and market.
Solution
Command AI found that Bowery Growth was up to the challenge. “Our product is not the easiest to understand. But Bowery Growth was able to get up speed on us quickly. They didn't require hearing information twice, and that was very comforting,” said Evans.
Bowery Growth quickly launched a series of experiments for Command AI across paid media, content marketing, website optimization, and outbound prospecting.
“I appreciated the speed of execution,” Evans said. “We didn’t take too much time to overthink things. [Bowery Growth] jumped in, saw what worked, took learnings, and iterated.”
Results
“Our marketing was at zero, and Bowery Growth got us to one,” said Evans. “We’ve grown revenue more than 10X.”
Eight months after kicking off its marketing leadership engagement with Bowery Growth, Command AI announced a $19M series A fundraise.
Evans continued, “We've stood up all of the major pillars … Bowery Growth created a great platform for us to scale up, which is exactly where we need to be.”
